We made our car colouring in pages for toddlers. But they’d work well in Preschool or Kindergarten learning activities too. Older kids will also have loads of fun designing their own police car or race car!

Car Painting Activity for Toddlers

Our favourite book to read at the moment is Red Car, Green Car by Roger Priddy (US | UK | CA). It’s an interactive book that helps teach toddlers colours in a fun and exciting way.

The last page of the book shows all different colour cars. After talking about the cars, our 18 month old pointed to a green colour car. So we set up a simple car painting activity using the outline.

Here are some of the ways this activity helped his learning:

• Improve fine motor skills as well as hand-eye coordination

• Learn to recognise colours

• Develop communication skills such as listening, understanding and speaking
