Toddler Age Appropriate Activities

On this page, you will find toddler age appropriate activities by age. These activities are great for stay at home mums/dad, carers, childcare settings and playdates. They are organsied into the following age categories – 1 year olds, 18 month olds and 2 year olds. But you may find that younger or older children enjoy doing them too. So check out all of the age categories. The ideas and learning experiences are things I’ve done with my toddler, so I know how effective the activities are. Toddlers have short attention spans but these ideas should help to keep them focused for more than 5 minutes!

When playing with your toddler, it’s important to sit back and let them lead the play. However, you should watch and follow along as there will be opportunities to extend their learning. If you’re creating your own activities or adapting the ones on this page, try to go with your little one’s interests and build on their current skills. Remember, all children reach their milestones at different times, so if they are unable to do something, try returning to it at a later date.

It’s hard keeping up with a toddler all day. I don’t know where they get their energy from! If you’re looking for other ways to keep them entertained, whilst boosting their development, check out the other activity ideas. They are suitable for outdoors, indoors and will help their physical development too.
